Hello people,
I am Priyanka Srivastava and I am here today with my first project for Nakshathra Designz. I have made a beautiful home decor piece which gives a 3 dimensional look without use of any other medium except paints. It looks like a poppy bouquet against a star studded sky. So I have aptly named it "Poppies against the dark sky". 😄
Here I have used Nakshathra Designz's Decoupage Paper Floral Design - 2. Theses are such a beautiful set of papers with lovely red, pink and white poppy flowers on it. And looking at them instantly gave me the idea to make this project. Without further ado, here is how you can make this decor piece.
I have taken a MDF circle which I had and covered the entire surface along with the edges with black chalk paint.
Then I have cut the bunch of 3 flowers from the decoupage paper which were on the foreground as I wanted to highlight them. I played with how I want to place the flowers on the base to get the idea. They already looked striking!
I, however decided to give it a look as though the flowers were shot in a dark night against a starry sky. This would have given the flowers some depth illusion. I did this with slashes of white, yellow and red chalk paint on the entire surface using a brush.
After that I fixed the decoupage paper design on the base using mod podge. I made sure to remove any air bubbles while placing the paper. Later I sealed the paper with another coat of mod podge.
When the mod podge dried completely, I gave a coat of varnish to seal the entire project.
This is the decoupage paper I used for my decor piece.
Do check out other designs of Nakshathra Designz Decoupage Papers and let your creative streak turn them into beautiful art pieces.
Cheers!
